AND NOW, THE CRICKETS!

(Said with an Ed Sullivan accent)

If you had fallen asleep for 2 months and had just woken up it wouldnt take long to see, hear and smell the waning signs of summer.  Cool, fresh mornings with wet dew hanging around longer on the blades of grass, the sun coming up later and setting earlier. In the evening crickets sing their warning of the impending weather changes, the geese show the early signs of V formation, and Christmas jingles converted to going back to school irritate us on the radio.
The Local Walmart has full inventory on boots and parkas, Halloween decorations are out, and all the summer stuff is on sale at 70% off, and the CNE tries to lure us into the midway hoping we will part with our money.  It doesnt take long to realize the end of summer is at hand and though the warm days may lull us into a false sense of security, before you know it the snow will be flying.

Jesus gives the signs of the times in Chapter 24 of the book of Matthew. He speaks of wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, and Christians being persecuted for their faith. The frequency of false prophets will increase and wickedness will abound as love grows cold.  We may be lulled into a false sense of security but before you know it, Jesus will be returning when we least expect it and in a blink of an eye, His church will be taken up leaving all unbelievers wondering Where did everybody go?.

Are you in a coast mode trying to not think about tomorrow or even today.  Recently we had a major alleged terrorist plot thwarted involving jet airliners.  My sister in law was in Scotland at the time on vacation and the second leg of her trip was flying on to Portugal.  The day after the story shocked the world she had to board a plane, her only carry on luggage being her passport. I asked her how she felt and she said she had talked herself out of believing this event was going on.  She acted like it never happened ignoring the soldiers as they stood by with automatic weapons at the ready with their nervous fingers on the trigger.

Closing our eyes and ears and hearts will not make it go away.  Deal with it with Christ as your Lord and be assured of your next stop in the path of life. DF
